Sleep Sacks 101

Every parent understands the importance of sleep all too well. That's why we're excited to share our top 5 sleep sacks that will help your little one (and by extension, you!) get maximal shut eye.

Our mantra? Try not to get too attached to a single brand or style. Don’t rush into buying the same sleep sack in multiple colors and sizes before getting to know your baby’s preferences. While your friends might rave about their favorite swaddle, it doesn't mean it'll suit your little one. What can we say—we’re minimalists! We believe in having only what serves a purpose in your home.

Below, we've curated a selection of our favorite sleep sacks, considering essential factors like material, durability, and comfort. We'll dive into why each option is great and how it can make a difference in your baby's sleep quality.

Lastly, be sure to purchase according to your child's age group. And if a particular sleep sack doesn't work out, don't hesitate to return it and find one that does! Your baby's comfort is paramount, after all.

Dream Weighted Sleep Sack
By Dreamland Baby — $89
These weighted sleep sacks were designed to soothe—and trust us when we say they do just that. With options for every age (think: swaddles, sacks, blankets), Dreamland Baby offers a variety of weights that are appropriate for every baby size. They also come in tons of colors to match anyone’s taste.

While this sack did wonders for our first child (we bought it in multiple sizes as they got older), it unfortunately didn't work for our second child because the TOG wasn't warm enough in the colder months. So, if we had to pick one flaw, that would be it. We’ll just be over here begging Dreamland Baby to make additional TOG options! 🙃

Pro tip: TOG = level of thickness; think about seasonality and average temperature of your home when you're selecting TOG level.
Sleep Bag
By Kyte Baby — From $55
Even though we warned you not to drop everything and buy your bestie’s favorite sleep sack, you need to drop everything and go get yourself one of these. Kyte Baby’s sleep bags are an essential for every home. Not only do they come in every TOG and color, they can also withstand endless amounts of machine washes. Having used and washed them 3x per week, we can verify that they hold up extremely well.

These sleep bags are soft as butter, and their calm colors and cute patterns offer something for everyone. Your baby could truly spend the first two years of their life in one.

Bamboo Sleep Bag 2.5 TOG
By Quince — $39.90
Quince has started to dabble with kids and baby products and we welcome this expansion with open arms! Their sleep sacks are the same material (bamboo) as the cult favorite, Kyte Baby. The biggest difference we've noticed is that these have a bit more stretch to them than Kyte’s sleep bags. So, while Quince has less color options than Kyte Baby, they are high quality and will get the job done!
The Ollie® Swaddle
By The Ollie World — $59
This is by far the most coveted swaddle on the market. So coveted that it can be hard to get your hands on one—and now we know why. The Ollie Swaddle is moisture wicking, which keeps your baby warm and dry during the night (think: reflux babies or spit ups that happen during the dream feed). The swaddle works with arms in or out, covering all the bases as your child develops their sleep preferences.

We think every mom should have this in their hospital bag, as it eliminates the pressure of feeling like you have to perfectly wrap your newborn. Ollie makes sure you get it right every time.
Minky Summer Model
By BabyInABag — $22.95
This brand came into our lives after many sleepless nights of listening to our 2 year old beg for a blanket in bed, then never able to pull it back on in the middle of the night. One too many blanket wars later, we set out to find the perfect alternative. Enter: BabyInABag.

This sleep sack is as thick as a blanket with similar texture, making it the perfect solution for bigger kids. Regardless of the TOG, you won’t lose that blanket feel. It’s a win-win for everyone!
