For starters, you don't need the cushion and yes, the tray table is sold separately. This high chair is everything. It has a secure seat you can slide your baby into, so you don't need to strap them in (though the strap comes in handy in the early days). As your child grows, you can remove the tray and use the chair at your kitchen table, as the height aligns nicely with most tables. We like the Tripp Trapp more than Stokke's Clikk High Chair due to this chair's radius being too big for the average kitchen. Pay the extra money to save the space and your toes.
